An automation only counts toward your limit while it is active. Disabled triggers, reports, and goals do not consume a slot.

How Billing Works

Alius uses Shopify App Pricing:
  • Subscriptions are managed directly through Shopify — not inside the app.
  • Billing appears on your regular Shopify invoice.
  • No payment information is entered into Alius.
  • Your active plan is confirmed against Shopify’s Partner API, which is the authoritative source of truth.

Upgrading

  1. Go to the Home page and open the Current Plan section.
  2. Choose Pro or Max and confirm on Shopify’s pricing page.
  3. Paid access is active immediately.
You can also reach the pricing page from the Automations page — when a Free limit is reached, a banner shows an Upgrade button.

Downgrading

  1. Open Current Plan on the Home page and switch to a lower plan (Max → Pro, or any plan → Free).
  2. Shopify defers the downgrade until the end of the current billing cycle.
During the remaining paid period: all automations stay active and you keep full access to your current tier. After the billing cycle ends: Alius switches to the target plan and trims each automation type to that tier’s limit, keeping the oldest active entries and disabling the rest.Disabled automations are never deleted — re-enable them by upgrading again.

Pending Downgrade Notice

If you’ve requested a downgrade but the billing cycle hasn’t ended, the Home page shows:
⚠️ Your plan has been cancelled and will switch on [date]. Until then, you retain full access.

Limit Enforcement

Limits are enforced at three levels for every automation type:
LayerWhat Happens
UIThe “Create Automation” button is disabled and a warning banner is shown.
Route ActionThe server rejects the form submission with an error.
Service LayercheckEntityLimits() / checkTriggerLimit() reject the create call.
Out-of-redirect changes (cancellations, expirations, Max → Pro step-downs) are caught by a daily reconciliation job that polls every paid shop against Shopify’s Partner API.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each automation type (Trigger, Report, Goal) has its own limit and counts independently. Only active automations count — disabled ones are free.

The oldest entries (by creation date) per type, up to the target plan’s limit. The rest are disabled.
Pro raises every limit and unlocks multi-hub, all schedule types, and AI summaries. Max removes the limits entirely — unlimited triggers, reports, and goals.
Your subscription state is synced from Shopify’s Partner API automatically. An active paid subscription is restored.
